the city of los angeles in the year 2050 served as the context for this thesis project. the city, in the midst of a epidemic outbreak, turns to a solitary piece of prefabricated mobile architecture in the form of a BOT. the BOT is an all-terrain single user dwelling vehicle that can be used in either single or aggregate uses with other BOT’s. The BOT can roll, crawl, walk, or climb, either on pre-existing systems of infrastructure or on natural landscape. It contains a variety of a sustainable energy systems that allows the user to remain safely within the unit without exposing themselves to outside elements.

the project involved a plethora of investigation into various building systems, such as heating, cooling, power, air filtration and circulation, and alternative energy sources, and then making those systems mobile. in all, the combination of these systems would create a self-sufficient operating entity that could thrive ‘off the grid.’ Read Less
