This project went through many changes, but ultimately became a graphical overlay of an image of the milky way galaxy. The name was origionally based on on of the underlying principles of science fiction - that of a clash of cultures, language and civilizations, the clash of the known and the foreign.
Because the festival included such a broad range of science fiction, this seemed like the most encompassing approach for the poster.

This was the final design. However the previous designs were also successful, but never implemented across both sides of the poster.
