BENYAHYA Group : New visual Identity

BENYAHYA Group
New visual identity
This logoconcept leaded me to challenging methods and advanced mathematical concepts, instead of just drawing or illustrating a traditional shape based symbol.

The first ideawas to pick a deep traditional symbol that returns the image of 3 generations TraditionCompany, but also reflects the excellence and modernity of a fast growing multi sectorgroup.

This wasthe raison behind choosing a pattern of : "
Zellig "
I’ve alwaysfind that a Zellig pattern is a heavy carrier of authentic values like : talentedskills, science, ability, excellence, beauty, efficiency, distinction, particularity, tradition, Moroccan Culture…
But most of all, the journey from simplicity to complexity !

Ancient practitioners of this craft used traditional methods of measurement, butcomplex mathematics to create dazzling geometric compositions, often based onthe repetition of a single pattern.
The results are magnificent in their beautyand awe-inspiring in their execution.

After several research and understanding of Islamic Patterns, tilling, geometric concepts behind Islamic Art, learning how to construct Zellij patterns, I was interested in Islamic star pattern.

I wanted the pattern to be fresh, overwhelming, unusual and more appealing.
I wanted also to be on a rounded form, simplest and most perfect of forms, expressing unity, completeness, integrity, energy, power, and mouvement.
Enhancing this sense of movement was behind the rendering of a sphere instead of a circle. Which added another complexity dimension !

I should map the texture (pattern) onto the surface of a sphere…!

The task sounded fairly simple, but the ideas involved in designing and understanding tessellations has grown very complex and interesting.

I was amazed by the great work of : Dr. Graig S. Kaplan, inspired by his stunning achievements, part of his thesis : Computer Graphics and Geometric Ornamental Design

I was also kindly advised by Dr. Kaplan while attempting the chosen execution.

No words can express my gratitude and appreciation of his work...
