Aviation New Town Exhibition Centre Design Competition

JINGWAN DISTRICT, ZHUHAI, GUANGDONG, CHINA
"The core ideas of this project comes from adeep understanding of Zhuhai Aviation Newtown planning principles, perfectingthe integration of ‘aviation’ and ‘lifestyle’. Zhuhai’s Aviation Industry reflects contemporary aviation’s moderntechnology, high-tech concepts and a dynamic spirit. Further, the picturesque Aviation Newtownboasts an efficient, quick-paced, environmentally sustainable lifestyle.

Therefore, the architectural concept is derivedfrom Aerodynamics, the building’s double-curves enhances the spirit of thefast-progressive aviation market, whilst also creating two distinct precincts –exhibition and investors. At the top ofthe building is an interior viewing platform, from which one is able to viewthe entire project and surrounding context.

Extending the architectural form onto thedesigned landscape and overall masterplanning, the integration building, entrance plaza and southern wetlands area creates another symbol – infinity∞. Infinity, suggests life as an endless loop, and ecological sustainability as a way of unlimited, endless development. Water, as the fundamental element of life, will be recycled and reused through the wetlands area, as well as protectinglocal biodiversity. "
