Big Tupper Ski area, located in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, closed more than a decade ago. Over the years, the loss of the ski area has been an economic and emotional blow to the community of Tupper Lake. In 2010, the community of Tupper Lake re-opened the mountain and have been able to keep it running with the help of local volunteers.
Working with ARISE (Adirondack Residents Intent on Saving Their Economy), Avant designed and developed a line of custom commemorative Big Tupper skis. These skis are a limited edition run with a large portion of the profits donated to help keep the ski area running. Nineteen pairs of the Big Tupper "Classic" model were produced featuring a five year season pass to the mountain embedded in the ski. In addition to the nineteen pairs, a single pair of Big Tupper "Premium" skis were designed with a solid wood core, carbon composite construction, hand cut mahogany veneer inlays and a golden lifetime season pass.
