Mapping and visualizing the food offer of a city

I've been working on my M.Sc thesis project from September 2011 to July 2012;
the project aims to analyze a complex system such as that of the urban environment through the observation of the food offer provided by restaurants, explored in its articulation by type of cuisine, and specificity of the foods that compose it.
The analysis is carried out starting from the research of all the information related to the restaurants and the menus corresponding to them, in the city of Milan during the year 2011/2012.
A first collection of all the information about food offer led to identify the key issues to focus the analysis on, in order to return some observations related to healthy eating in a big city.
The results were displayed through a series of thematic tables that make up the body of the Atlas, that try to explain the food offer, from the distribution of the restaurants on the map of the city, to the specificity of fishes and meat that can be found on a menu.
