Book Project & Editorial Assignment for Aston Martin / TopGear Magazine
In all, this project lasted almost six months. The brief was to document some of the behind-the-scenes action at the Aston Martin factory – in Gaydon, Warwickshire, England – prior to turning on the brand new assembly line designed to build the new DB9. The shoot included shooting the production line literally 12 hours before it was turned on; portraits of technicians, designers and engineers; as well as shooting images of prototypes and clay models within the secret R&D rooms, all of which were behind very secure doors.
In addition, James attended the launch of this important new Aston Martin in the South of France. This supplementary shoot was to intended to document a drive in the new DB9 with Michael Harvey, the editor of Top Gear Magazine. The journey took them to the gates of the Ferrari factory in Modena, northern Italy.
During the two day trip, James shot pictures in Portofino, Modena and Fiorano - as well as on the roads in between. After dropping Michael off at the Modena train station, he then had a joyous seven hour drive back to Nice, driving one of the finest sports cars ever made.
