Assessment is an important function within any department.  While Special Assistant to the Executive Director for Assessment, Public Relations & Marketing, William Jones coordinated assessment projects for the University Career Center.  Below are some examples of his work. Many of which are still functions being utilized today.
Marketing, Assessment & Programs (MAP) Database
MAP allows the staff of the University Career Center to track program participation and evaluate learning outcomes.  The system provides demographic data of participants, tracks student service utilization history, collects UMD Graduation Survey results, generates activity reports and much more.
UMD Graduation Survey
Twice a year the Center collects information from graduating UMD students and publishes results both online and in booklet format for the department, deans and vice presidents.  In 2008, a 4-year analysis of data was conducted and presented to various constituencies on campus.
University Career Center Annual Report
Each year the Center publishes an annual report containing center-wide accomplishments, assessment data, as well as challenges and goals for the upcoming year.
Academic Activity Reports
The Marketing, Assessment & Programs database generates activity reports for each academic college/school at the University of Maryland.  These reports contain information on service utilization by various students within academic departments, excerpts from the UMD Graduation Survey, as well as events and programs conducted specifically for those academic departments.  Staff members utilize these reports when meeting with academic liaisons.
Counseling, Event and Program Evaluations
Each counseling appointment, event and program participant completes either a paper or electronic evaluation. Results are electronically made available to staff through the Marketing, Assessment & Programs database.  Periodic presentations were also given to staff in order to share information and achievements.
