Artificial Scenarios (surreal photo works) POLIMI JAN 2010

Landscapes can be seen as physical objects and masses, and wed like to trans-
late this concept into spaces where people become the landscape in a metaphori-
cal way. Wed like to explore how people interpret a space and how that lanscape
changes through time with the activities of the people inhabiting it.
Working from this statement, we set up rules for a game of creating situations.
Each of the photographers made a photo that had to include at least one person
and a number of identifiable objects or concepts. We then traded pictures in a
certain order and the receiving photographer had to interpret the situation and
the visible elements in order to recreate the image. Since each photographer
would only see the previous picture, the concepts mutate and change form through
interpretation.
The group consisted of five people from five different countries and different ar-
eas of expertise. The final results reflects this aspect in the fact that styles
and content of the images differ a great deal. Interestingly enough, we found
that one of the series showed almost identical images, apart from the fact that
the style and color palette differed. Other series show a changing landscape
featuring vastly different concepts, while the relationships between the images
can always be recognized.
