Art in Awe of Science

  • Glendon Mellow
    Art in Awe of Science
  • Adept in traditional oil painting and modern digital painting techniques, I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts Studio Honours degree from York University, 2010. I pride myself on remaining scientifically literate and doing research on my subjects before beginning the artwork.

Here are some examples of my work.
  • Darwin Took Steps by Glendon Mellow. 2008, oil on canvas paper.
This image has appeared on 3 book covers, a magazine cover and a print was displayed at Casa de las Ciencias museum in Spain.
  • Trilobite Boy and gargoyles, by Glendon Mellow. 2010, digital painting using ArtRage 2.5.

Painting of an experimental webcomic character I'm developing. Featured on io9.com in March 2011.
  • Pink Parasaurolophus, by Glendon Mellow. 2010, digital painting using Photoshop. For a charity drive in support of breast cancer research held on ART Evolved, the paleo-art blog.
  • Haldane's Precambrian Puzzle A, by Glendon Mellow. Oil on 9 pieces of shale, 2008.

This puzzle has 2 configurations. Inspired by biologist JBS Haldane's remark about "Precambrian rabbits" being required to falsify evolution. Rabbit configuration shown.
