Art Night is an annual event showcasing a sampling of Austin’s cultural players. The event pairs art galleries and local restaurants (with wine, too, of course), creating a program circuit that introduces Austinites to some of the best work in the city. This circuit of venues are connected by a shuttle, which carries attendees comfortably from one location to the next, surprising attendees on every stop. Along with galleries and restaurants, the Art Alliance commissions special art projects for the event and even hosts an After-Party. Every year over 700 people attend Art Night Austin, and it’s safe to say that the event has become a local mainstay.
For Art Night Austin 2012 we developed an identity that was meant to convey a sense of experimentation, fun and sophistication to attract a young and savvy crowd to the exclusive event. To achieve this we used experimental typefaces, diagrams, and collages with nocturnal motives (violet and silver tones with accents in subdued citrus-inspired colors). Lastly, we gave the team at CSI* Printing a terrible headache by developing a 30-page booklet that had metallic silver as a spot color in every page. The result was, erh, sparkly brilliant. Read Less
