This identity system was created for an annual art exhibition at Appalachian State University. The Art Expo takes place every spring, and features the best student and faculty work selected from the university population. This identity was created to convey the idea of building and creating. The logo, an abstraction of the AE ligature, was built using few shapes and was constructed in a symmetrical fashion. The shapes used to create the logo are then carried over to create "building blocks" in poster and postcard applications, where the repeating shapes create and build a kind of cascading pattern. The use of this modular pattern and the spectrum of colors suggest creativity, construction, and creation.
