Architecture at dusk

HDR - High Dynamic Resolution has extended the latitude of digital photography, by combining 3 or more exposures which lightens the dark shadows and darkens the highlight areas resulting in finer detail.
Dusk Architecture
Electrifying a structure for presentation as an image.
Welcome to my portfolio of images I have created of architecture at dusk. The advantage of shooting a building this way is;  the viewer can often see details within the structure and not just the surface as you would if photographed with sunlight. Also by having lighting on and around the property there is a more energetic and lived-in quality to the building even without the appearance of a person.
The red streaks of automobile tail lights are always a good addition, but it may take multiple tries to get just the right length.
Many of the exterior lights had to be created in Photoshop. They existed but were not working, some electrical problem. The interior office lights on the third floor were also created since the space had not been finished yet.
This is one of my first attempts at dusk imaging. Since then I have insisted on a empty parking area. Vehicles in the foreground do nothing but distract.
This was shot at dawn. 99% of the time I have taken the trouble to get out of bed and go create a dawn photo it has worked out. Of course I check with the weather forecast before committing to wake up early.
Dramatic skies can help invigorate the image as long as it does not compete.
This building has mirrored glass and reflected the sunset in the lower right corner only. The client asked for more reflection so I built it up until the customer was happy, but it took  a few dozen tries.
Without the dark blue sky this image does not seem to be as deep. One of the chalanges of creating any photograph is work is to create the sense of depth.
Virginia Beach animal care center. Winter can place the setting sun in a position to "halo" the building you are shooting.
