The Aprilia Superbike is fully working prototype that was designed and built in a close collaboration with my colleague Ivan Vasilew. We wanted to create a motorbike that would be dynamic, strong, rugged and urban – for riders with a strong sense of individuality.
The Aprilia Superbike is based on the frame of Aprilia Futura model. The total working time spent on the 2004 model, from sketch to the fully working prototype, was six weeks. It took us two weeks to develop the basic design concept, and four more weeks to produce it. We designed completely new exterior form for the bike, but we preserved some elements like the main frame, the tank, the engine and the rims.
The body and the seat are made from fiberglass. The back suspension was upgraded and lifted, while the front suspension was lowered. The exhaust was reconstructed and completely moved under the body. In that way, we have put an accent to the back mono-frame wheel. The seat and the body shell have been remodeled in a completely new way. Different headlight and flashers have been installed as well. The 2007 model was restyled and minor modifications to the exterior form have been made. The works on the 2007 model have been done in collaboration with the Highlander Custom Motorcycles workshop.
