Apple | iHomeless
Based on the insight that many people don't give any cash to the homeless under the assumption that they will spend it on alcohol or drugs, we came up with iHomeless, an idea that uses technology to help those who don't have any.
iHomeless revolves around two main elements: personal QR codes that the homeless can stick on their cardboard signs and the iHomeless reward card. By reading these QR codes with the iHomeless smart phone app, people can donate money which turns into points that the homeless accumulate in their reward cards. Then they can redeem these points at a series of companies affiliated with the program: food, medicine, shelter, etc.
The QR codes also lead us to online personal profiles that let us get to know the homeless people we are dealing with. Establishing these online links between the general public and the homeless
people is our proposal to connect those who are willing to reconnect. To make the social networking truly social.
