Animation Generation 2012

Animation Generation
Animation Generation was a yearly drawing competition, in collaboration with schools,
for kids in South Africa (similar to the UK's Draw-a-Toon).
This year kids were asked to design a new character for "The Amazing World of Gumball" show, with the prize of their character potentially featuring on the channel. The show is such a fantastic mix of styles that it's the perfect show to inspire kids to experiment with all sorts of media including paint, felt tips, collage, etc.

The campaign involves posters, an information booklet for teachers, badges and stickers. When a campaign involves several items, if possible I like to try and work in different character-based jokes across the items - I think this gives the whole campaign more depth and helps it retain a freshness for its duration.
Below is the sticker design, shown here modelled by Anton from the show - demonstrating the scale of the sticker
on a piece of toast - 16mm x 16mm!
(But I think the stickers were intended to be used to highlight particularly good efforts rather than given out to
(slightly disappointed) kids to wear).
