American Vedantist

  • AMERICAN VEDANTIST
    Branding and publication re-design

American Vedantist is a not-for-profit journal dedicated to spreading ideas of spiritual unity. The brand was under-developed and didn't reflect the beauty of the ideas it represented. Being a proponent of the cause, I took on this project at no cost to the non-profit.

The identity embodies American Vedantist's mission to make ancient spiritual philosophy global and cross-denominational, and apply it in a modern world

  • The American Vedantist logotype is drawn to reference medieval blackletter, then standard in religious manuscripts. The new identity was launched in an issue appropriately-themed, "New Directions." The cover features the logomark at large scale.
  • The interior covers feature a different circle-based pattern in every issue. The circular voids, amidst the interlocking circles, give the appearance of a stained glass window.
  • Article titles reference 19th century book title pages, and each begins with a dramatic drop cap matching the logotype.
  •  World religious symbol icons designed within the new American Vedantist identity for an article about worship services.
