Ambivalence Avenue Redesign

  • Ambivalence Avenue Redesign
Vinyl Packaging, Digipak, and Poster for Bibio's Fourth Album
  • In July 2011, I attended Central St. Martins College of Art and Design in London, where I was fortunate enough to study with Vaughan Oliver, whose studio holds a significant relationship with 4AD records. Vaughan has designed album covers for The Cocteau Twins, The Pixies, David Lynch, and The Breeders, among others. He challenged our class to redesign a favorite album which had disappointing artwork.

Bibio's "Ambivalence Avenue" is an electronica album that weaves in and out of folk, dream pop, and indie instrumentals. The richly layered textures build to create a lush soundscape both overstimulating and relaxing. I wanted my design to reflect the decadence of the record while respecting its ease. With a floral sleeve and gold interior, this design was created as a deluxe edition of the album that includes a poster and digipak in addition to the vinyl LP.
