Ambassador de France en Thailande

info.
4th year first project in Architectural Design Studio VI,
Major in Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.

The main concept is the quality of French spaces in three period: past, present and future. It started from the very inspiring quote from Sixty French Men Can't Be Wrong, the book that I've read over a year ago, said that 'impossible to seperate the past from the present'. It light me up to drive my project in the way talking about the differrent and indifferent of space and time in France.

The first part, Past, Overall function of this part is main office of the embassy, so I chose the huge indoor space like many old famous French architecture in Renaissance, make people feel small and respect to the super shocked space. Also planning in symmetrical system to dignified the very first look of the embassy. The form is a huge gable with few slope to define the space that have the different type and amount of users.

The second part, banquet hall and party zone. I would like to talk about the present in this part, bacause of the norm of most French in daily life like to live in the city, to eat outside thier house, to meet people, mostly walk and sit around some nice bistro on the street. So I chose the very large outdoor space to eat, walk and talk. Also have some indoor dining space in case that needed more privacy or even when its raining out there. I also take the same gable roof as the first part, like the quote from the book that there is always have some part of past in every present, but I have shorten the roof and half of the gable came only the structure not the finishing, just to define the space without any enclosure.

The last one, Future, I've tried very hard to analysed the French Future Space and have been failed for many times, some kind of thought that future space refer to the out space (out of the world), future space with super weird form (and also function), whatever it doesn't work to me and my professor too, then he suggested me to step back, clear my mind and revision my eyes and I finally found out that we are like going back to the future. I mean at last, all people just come back to the nature. Future Doesn't mean something beyondest or something newest, but maybe mean something happen simply from the union of the past and the present space, then those three dimensions of time will completely be one, impossible to seperate apart. This part is the embassador resident. Started with placing the room align to the existing trees in the site to make a new combination of indoor and outdoor space, human and nature.
