Alberto is an iron sculptor and a smith. I met him years before starting the Modern portraits of old craftsmanship project. His workspace is just outside my hometown, a small village in western Friuli named Sacile. I remember going to his place to photograph one of my first school projects when I was just a kid. I came back years later with the much clearer idea to shoot for the book. He was kind enough to participate and was so fascinated by our mothods of working that he commissioned us a promotional video, where he could talk about his work. This was shot in 2011.
