This poster was designed for a Typography 1 course at Parsons The New School for Design during the fall semester in 2009.
The purpose of the assignment was to create a poster using only typography (selected at random) and create a concept that would best display the type's characteristics. For Akzidenz Grotesk, I decided to play with the type family and demonstrate its simplicity with a multi-function approach. The 18 X 24 poster is divided into 4 sections: azki, denz, gro, tesk. Each section contains a branch of the type family and when placed together, spells out Akzidenz Grotesk. The idea is that the individual sections can stand alone or be put together as a full poster.
