This project was inspired by the music genre called AFRO BEAT. Its a combination of traditional African music, jazz and funk from round about the 60's. The music sounds like something you'd hear on the soundtrack for a movie like "SHAFT" or  "JACKIE BROWN" ...sort of...but just with African themes such as: political protest, cultures, money, love, war, folk tales etc. ( Pretty much the African human condition)

 

Fela Kuti, Alhaji Frimpong, Ebo Taylor, MonoMono, Segun Bucknor...the list is long...but these are some of the names to look out for, if you're interested.

 

My take was to treat the posters like movie posters and also try to communicate some of the themes that are sung about in the music.
