‘Ace Investors’ is a pilot scheme that aims to get 15-25 year olds into entrepreneurialism. The client wanted the brand to visually appeal to the target audience and get their attention using wealth and whatever we felt necessary. We used Retro games as our inspiration for the brand. The name became ‘Ace Investors’, which is a spoof of ‘Space Invaders’. The bespoke font was designed to look like a pixel font without actually being one. This made the font legible and gave it an industrial feel. The light bulb was designed to represent an idea, as that is all you need to potentially run your own enterprise. The light bulb also has an arcade feel about it and can be subtly altered to use as an icon to express different emotions, like emoticons.
The client wanted something that could be worn on t-shirts and look stylish. The coin version of the logo was developed for this purpose. Utilising a coin and a light bulb in this manner shows that all you need is an idea to make money. Coins also have arcade connotations, as game characters usually collect something throughout the game that represents wealth. This symbol has become a logo in its own right.
The notes have been designed for the viewers to use as a scoring mechanism, after they have watched the participants’ business proposals.
The “Investors” characters, which look similar to Space “Invaders” were designed as a visual tool to use throughout many aspects of the project. The Space Invaders game is a metaphor for the project, the participants are shooting their best ideas at the investors in hope that some investment and valuable knowledge comes their way. Read Less
