They are often the first to arrive, and their job is to provide the first emergency medical support. You have to keep your head cool in some very stressful conditions. Therefore becoming a ambulance medic or driver, requires a lot of training and practice. 

 

At the academy for Ambulance Medics, they not only train in theory, they also stage so called LOTUS courses. In these courses, specially trained actors, play out scenarios which the students can encounter in real life. From car accidents, drug overdoses to child births. These scenarios are focussed on introducing the students to these events and also the reactions of people in these events.

 

We visited two of these training days to make a photo documentairy for the annual report and their website.
