Abstracting the Familiar is a photographic project that derived from a magazine article I read about applying vaseline to the lens of your camera. So that's what I did.
I used the landscape around me to create the familiar component with the images. The application of the vaseline is completely random which makes for a more interesting process. You can only truly view the images once imported, so its an experiment right up to the final moments.
Most of the images have been editied within Photoshop, using the curves tool to create a 'film' effect. A simple technique that adds a vintage quality to the images.
