- Abstract Construction
The growing persistence of emptiness- all’s held and nothing’s contained.
An exploration of the relationship between idea and material form. using a piece of memory to derive key ideas and concepts from which construct a 3 dimensional object in the attempt to express abstractions of these ideas.
A vivid memory of a strange empty field. A sense of attachment and familiarity. An absence felt at certain stages of life. Such sense of emptiness is permanent and very hard to get rid of. Over time, the persistence of the emptiness grows and expands and eventually dominants. It always seems all that emptiness is held within us and yet it transcends like a growing void that seems to be held but not contained, supported, suspended and sustained by clusters of thin steel wires. This growing emptiness despite seems to have a defined shape to it by the shape is never restrained - the emptiness spreads around each single wire and spreads out of the existing structure penetrates the flowing out to the other spaces
- and hence: The growing persistence of emptiness- all’s held and nothing’s contained.
