Detroit would be the nearest major city to me, so upon purchasing my camera it became my second home. I still remember the first time I got off the freeway right by the river, thinking how unfamiliar everything looked, surprising myself that all of this history and business was so near to my home. As I traveled around the city I quickly lost interest in the landmarks of Hart Plaza, Ford Field, Comerica, the Joe, and the Fox theater. I found myself drawn to the mass amounts of buildings that have been subject to nature for years now. With over 90,000 abandoned buildings...Detroit hosts an photographic experience that is hard to find elsewhere. To see such immense decay in what has always been one of America's flagship cities...this is the dying giant.
