Who Are AWS Ocean Energy?
AWS develop technology in the renewable marine energy sector. Their current project is a multi-MW wave energy generator. Their ambition? To develop reliable, affordable and operable offshore power stations within five years.

4c Design Delivers
AWS came up against the issue of attaching a very large diaphragm to a steel frame. To avoid delaying the progress of the overall design they enlisted our help to approach the problem with a fresh set of eyes and to facilitate a team in a brainstorming session.
Fundamental to this was a preparation stage where we immersed ourselves in the problem to fully understand the issues, particularly surrounding the physical scale of the problem. How do you manhandle a two ton sheet larger than side of a double-decker bus?

Our continued involvement with AWS has provided them with complex CAD 3D models for their analysis, scale models for physical testing, product and process visualisations and we have helped them refine the design so that it can be simpler to manufacture and more robust in operation.
We look forward to supporting them to achieve their next goal, a full-scale working prototype.
Our output enabled AWS to move their overall design forward knowing that they now had options for overcoming what was otherwise a show-stopping issue.
