Project Background:Impacta is an innovative start up from the UK focusing on products for injury prevention. Originally concerned with the medical market, Impacta have recently been making moves to branch out into the sports industry. They approached me to help them develop their first products in this field; their Armordillo knee brace for sports injury prevention/rehabilitation and their Velo padded protector shorts for extreme sports.
The knee brace is being developed in carbon fibre for its weight and structural strength and features anatomically correct hinge, patella protection and a breathable, moisture wicking CoolMax® lining. The body of the Velo short is constructed from stretch lycra and will feature Koroyd® impact absorbing pads in critical ares and a heat pressed, mositure wicking chamois pad for comfort. Both products will be on the market later this year.
