It was acting as the stylist for a high fashion editorial shoot that the direction to create high contrast against bold patterns and colors was first envisioned. Images of neutral and sparse environments were imagined to accentuate the brilliance of these hues. Yet, as the compositions developed, a subtler tension began to emerge, one that was deeper, raw, and emotional that finally evolved into the story that is Abandoned. The progression of the Abandoned catalogue was compositional as well as emotional, told in a two page layout that unfolds into a single accordion like spread. Black backgrounds frame each picture subtly mimicking the perspective of being seen through a lens, which further separates viewer from subject to strengthen the feeling of abandonment. All pictures were taken with an analog camera to bring a subtle sense of the natural, and then scanned for color correction and finalization.
