A Place in the Country

Places remember events. - James Joyce

In 1809 the troops of Napoleon Bonaparte drew a bloody trail through Eastern Bavaria. Today nothing reminds of the battlefields of that time. But does a place remain the same, if the place was once a place of war and violence? Can places lose their innocence permanently, even if they look so innocent today? Landscapes are not only what we (want to) see - they are also historical storage locations. They are places contaminated with history that often hold and hide dark secrets.
