UNISPACE

SA lab designed UNISPACE modular park pavilion with a neon unicorn sign, flexible space and a wooden terrace that offers solitude in Vyksa.
The concept was to create a memorable functional part of the park by simple means.
It is proposed to initially form 2 zones, taking into account the diversity of the target audience. The pavilion is divided vertically: the lower level - for active leisure, the upper - for passive. Both levels have an open flexible layout for holding various events.
The design suggests additional protection from rain and wind due to short construction terms, project economics and lack of engineering support. The contour of the building remains open in good weather, while in bad weather transparent blinds can be used. Additionally, special heaters are installed. These measures will create a comfortable space at minimal cost.
The wooden structure is developed using algorithmic design methods. Form finding is based on rethinking of traditional park elements and materials. The wooden structure plays the role of a facade, parapet and creates a remarkable architecture.
Structurally, the building consists of 2 parts: a framework and a wooden structure. The project proposes using prefabricated elements and on-site installation. Materials and pavilion colors were chosen according to the existing design code of the park.
The first level is open and free, allowing visitors to have a view of the surrounding nature. The main volume is raised above the ground, as if soaring and creating a clearly noticeable accent over a long distance. A memorable image will attract visitors and offer a new form of interaction with architecture and nature.
UNISPACE pavilion will become a place for communication, exchanging experience and emerging of new ideas.
