Toilets
According to the modern idea, spaces such as a train, space between compound wall and a bus stop, etc. throughout the city and also spaces inside a house such as a toilet are often regarded as spaces that one moves out or passes through as quickly as possible. Contradicting to this idea, an entirely different realm of experience gets mobilized when someone finds its respite space in a restroom or a toilet. The pressure to perform duties while in a home or a workplace is very much felt. Spaces like toilets/restrooms become spaces where one can escape for short desired period of time.
Spaces like these are routine spaces that one enters without any choice. By the act of closing a door helps in isolating oneself from the outside environment. The nature of space of a restroom accommodates for oneself to be in complete isolation. All the pressures to perform in a certain way in other spaces of house can be eliminated while in the toilet. The only reason why people look forward to such spaces in their respite time is to experience the self in all its ways. It is a space that allows for generation of ideas and thoughts.
