 01. HANGEUL PATTERN SERIES
FABRIC POSTER / COASTER / MOTHER OF PEARL COASTER

THE REINTERPRETATION OF HANGEUL
The Korean script, HANGEUL, has sometimes been called the most scientific writing system in the world.
It’s also great with its esthetic shape.

 02.  SANSUHWA PATTERN SERIES
COASTER / MOTHER OF PEARL COASTER

THE REINTERPRETATION OF SANSUHWA
Sansuhwa is a kind of Lorean landscape painting that shows the beauty of nature - mountains, water trees and rocks.
The illustration and patterns on these products are inspired by Sansuhwa, Korean landscape paintings in Joseon Dynasty.
I reinterpreted the element of those beautiful paintings and tried to bring that beauty to everyday object.

 03. JOGAKBO PATTERN SERIES
FABRIC POSTER / COASTER / MOTHER OF PEARL COASTER

THE REINTERPRETATION OF JOGAKBO
A JOGAKBO is a style of patchwork, traditionally used to create domestic wrapping cloths,
known as bojagi, from scraps of left-over fabrics.

We hope to make valuable products which have beautiful appearances
representing the past and the present of Korean traditional arts and crafts.
Rapid economic expansion coupled with a desire to retain traditional values, can make South Korea appear to have one foot in the future and one foot in the past. We draw our inspiration from this tension to create beautiful products representing the past and present of Korean traditional arts and crafts. ‘Sorosi’ means ‘remained intact’. Our work is a reinterpretation of Korean traditional art and culture for a contemporary international audience. It combines and re-makes simple forms and concepts from ‘Hangeul’ (Korean alphabet) and ‘Sansuhwa’ (Korean landscape paintings in the 17th Century Joseon Dynasty), with Korean traditional patchwork, ‘Jogakbo.’
