FORGE | 2019
Forge is the result of a year of research and design development. Half of this time was spent researching the complex relationship between artists and the people involved with bringing their ideas to life. Through a series of in depth interviews with artists, fabricators, curators and gallery technicians, it was found that pain points from both artists and fabricators related to communication issues. In order to allow all parties to see artwork on the same level I decided to bring art into the Virtual Reality space. By producing work in VR, the artist is able to assess all physical limitations of the product before doing costly testing with fabricators. In order to make artists more comfortable in the space I designed a controller with a moving weight, which provides some tactile feedback to the user, implying resistance in the virtual world.
