Warface: Breakout – Arms Store

Arms Store is a menu, where players can buy weapons and equipment during the first 40 seconds of each round. During 10 seconds of pre-round players can not move, they see a briefing, pre-round timer and a hint for opening the Arms Store.
There were concerns about using the left stick for radial menu, because in most games players manage a weapon wheel with the right stick. Despite that, after many playtests we were sure that our button layout works best in our case.
Here you can see how fast players use the Arms Store thanks to convenient button layout.
One of the very first prototypes. We didn't know the exact number of weapons and groups at the time, so we aimed to support as much as possible. Also we tried to implement squad loadout here, but we removed it after few playtests.
Later we added an indication of the left stick position, current players' loadout, round number and faction logo. At this point UX design was 90% done and we were designing the visual style.
