ID Practice: Recycled Trophy

Assignment Brief.

The brief was to collect plastic softener bottles, milk bottles, oil bottles, chlorine bottles, etc and by using not more than R50 of accessories, give your chosen bottles, etc., a second life as a ‘wall mounted animal trophy light’. Reference can included fish, birds and animals not found in Africa and you must provide a way in which you can mount the trophy to the wall and also provide basic electric wiring and a light fitting to make it a light feature.

I chose to make a tiger because it is my favorite animal in the cat family and it seemed challenging to create using plastic.to create if I had to do a research on how to build 3D artifacts or objects using plastic, find as much plastic as I could and look for a glue that suits my plastic type. After that I had to start working on the trophy rough draft using plastic, tapes, cutting k. Collect plastic softener bottles, milk bottles, oil bottles, chlorine bottles, etc.

Crafting Process.
After collecting plastic containers I had to wash them thoroughly for both hygiene and removing dust on the container surfaces so that glue sticks properly. I then cut open the containers to make plastic sheets and then draw guidelines for small building blocks of the trophy.
I then temporarily merged the building blocks using a tape so that I see if these pieces match properly.  This process is not entirely accurate but with precision managed to join all the pieces and managed to make a this trophy.
Final Product.
