This project required the selection of one specific aspect of Johannesburg/South Africa and gathering as much information about that subject as possible. Once the data was collected, it was to be represented in a data visualization system that would best communicate the data. The chosen topic was the Gaming industry in South Africa. 

The gaming industry in South Africa is a constantly growing sector. It was identified as one of the biggest success stories in the entertainment and media sector. This study aims to find out more about the gaming industry in South Africa. Who are the people that form part of the gaming community? How do they impact the economic side of the South African gaming industry? What are their gaming habits? What are their gaming preferences? These are the questions that this study addresses. 

How might we create a data visualization system for the gaming industry in South Africa, that is easy to understand and offers an engaging experience.

A data visualization system that represents all of the survey participants and allows users to filter the participants according to various parameters.

-          Display the data collected from the survey in an appropriate way that is easy to understand and compare.

-          Provide an interesting way of interacting with the data collected

In order to collect the data that would visualized, a survey was conducted with 87 respondents. The survey asked general questions about demographics, then more questions related to gaming habits, gaming preferences and their economic contribution to the gaming industry.

There many ways available to represent data, a number of these, such as parallel sets, tree mapping, scatter plots etc.Various systems and layouts were designed and tested in order to see which worked best for the data that was collected

The overall design of the data visualization resembles a circuit/motherboard due to the fact that all digital gaming platforms or devices have some for or motherboard or circuit within them.
