The Newton a new Bullion Standard

I chose to create a new design in Sir Isaac Newtons honour, an obverse (the heads side) manufactured to the highest specification. The reverse would change annually, the design reflecting the accuracy and clarity of the great mans modus operandi.
A true genius whose analytical mind brought enlightenment to the fields of Physics and Maths. He was appointed the Warden of the Royal Mint in 1696; here his pursuit of empirical study brought efficiency and transparency to the everyday life of the Mints 'community'
My reference for the portrait was the David le Marchand Ivory (a copy of which is kept in the Royal Mint Museum) it was carved in from life i.e. not a later romanticised image. The lack of formal dress such as wig and gown are dispensed with suggesting Newton wanted an honest study made.
