"Story of my life"

My grandfather was a Prisoner of Zion. He was born in the city of Ackerman (present day’s Belgrad-Dnestrovsky of a Bessarabia region, Ukraine) to a traditional Jewish family. He grew up in a Jewish community and in his youth was a member of the Gordonia Zionist movement. This lead to him being accused of plotting against the Soviet regime, and he was imprisoned in a Russian prison for 13 years. During these difficult times he turned from a religious person into an Atheist. After his release from prison, my grandfather started a new life and raised a family. Although he has lost his faith, he never lost his Zionist beliefs and has always spoken of the love he had for Israel. A few years after the fall of the "Iron Wall", he and my grandmother have decided to immigrate to Israel.
Although his life was haunted by hardships and upheavals, my grandfather managed to keep his sanity and
became a person significant to, and admired by many.It has been five years since he passed away. Before he died he wrote an autobiography and I have always wanted to share his life story. Therefore, in my project, I have decided to make a book of illustrations for his autobiography. The illustrations are divided into the different periods of his life: before, during and after the imprisonment.

סבי היה אסיר ציון. הוא נולד באקרמן (היום בלגרד-דנסטרובסקי, בחבל בסרביה באוקראינה) למשפחה יהודית מסורתית, גדל
בקהילה יהודית ובצעירותו הוא היה חבר בתנועה ציונית גורדוניה. בעכבות זה הואשם בחתירה נגד השלטון, ועל כך ישב בכלא הרוסי במשך 13 שנה. במהלך תקופה זו הוא עבר המון קשיים ובעקבות זה הפך מבנאדם מאמין לאתאיסט. לאחר שיחרור מהכלא התחיל חיים חדשים והקים משפחה. למרות שאיבד את אמונתו, הוא אף פעם לא איבד את עקרונותיו הציוניים. ובכל הזדמנות שהייתה לו הוא
דיבר על אהבתו לארץ ישראל. כמה שנים לאחר נפילת "חומת הברזל" הוא וסבתא שלי החליטו לעלות לארץ. למרות שחייו היו רדופים בקשיים ותהפוכות, סבי הצליח לשמור על שפיותו והפך לדמות משמעותית ונערצת על ידי רבים
השנה יעברו 5 שנים מפטירתו, לפני שנפטר הוא כתב ספר ביוגרפיה ותמיד רציתי להוציא לאור את סיפור חייו. לכן בפרויקט שלי
החלטתי לעשות ספר איורים על הביוגרפיה שלו. האיורים מתחלקים לתקופות: לפני תוך כדי ואחרי המאסר
