In the tenth week of his speech, Leyla Stevens described the life course of an artist and a researcher. Leyla was born in Queensland, Australia, and worked between Sydney and Bali. Her main direction is to cross space, cross culture, and deal with History and alternative concepts.

Among her photographs, there are actually no stunning or unique styles. Compared with some of the more creative and spatial photographs before, Leyla's works are not my favorite. In her speech she told when it comes to some life experience and the story after each picture, this may be an aspect that attracts me.As in the introduction at the beginning, she is also a researcher. Some pictures are not as eye-catching as modern photography. In my opinion, some works are more like accompanying diaries. Recording her life track. There will be a story behind the seemingly ordinary work.

In my definition of photography, not all pictures may be called photographs. Even if there is a story behind this ordinary everyday picture or a memory that recalls the author, the picture itself cannot be explained. Leyla's work does not make me think it is a photography exhibition, her work is biased on documentary and reverse research. This is closely related to her status as a researcher. The photographic work should have moved people's eyes, giving a mysterious and stunning feeling. Then came the story of the author's story when it was filmed.

In the "Their sea is always hungry" series, a series of multi-channel videos are used to reflect the fact of the history of political violence in Bali. It is also an ironic narrative. As a response to the unrecognized mass grave site. The series of exhibitions are displayed in the Uts gallery. This is a contribution made by Leyla as a historical researcher. Using photography to spread this event on multiple platforms.
