Import the STL file (using the proper units settings) and orient it as depicted in the supplemental document labeled dash_orientation.pdf. Create an assembly to work within that will include parts for the dash surfacing, as well as the vent assemblies. All models, curves, sketches, etc. will be on the correct layer. All STL. images, linked geometry will be out of the reference set, and the files reference set to be set to "MODEL".

Surface the top half of the car dashboard starting at (and including) the silver trim (that extends across the entire dash as depicted in the supplemental images) and ends at where the dash would meet the windshield of the car. The center touch screen is to be included in this surfacing. All surfaces are to be trimmed to their adjacent surfaces and are to be sewn together with the NX default sewing tolerance of 0.01mm or 0.00039”. The final sewn surface must pass an examine geometry check at the default values. Results showing sheet boundary issue are allowed so long as the edges that are highlighted are the perimeter edges of the entire sewn surface. All black leather car dashboard surfaces are to be tangent at a minimum of G1. Ignore the stitching of the leather and the areas with tape as geometry to match. Students will be working to a tolerance of +/-2mm or +/- 0.080” on all surfacing. Surfaces are to be smooth and not follow the scan data imperfections.

Using traditional parametric Boolean MODELLING (no surfacing), create the 3 vent assemblies shown in the supplemental images. These vent assemblies must include vanes to direct air in 4 directions (up, down, left, right) and all vanes must be constrained on their axis of rotation. Students are to research how the controlling mechanisms for the vane orientation work and recreate them to the best of their ability. All parts in these assemblies are plastic components and as such design considerations for plastic components must be taken into effect. Create a part drawing for all components created and include a note as to the proposed manufacturing method for each. These drawings can be done using mater model method or internally to the part.

Glovebox is surfaced (same tolerance and geometry requirements as task 2)

The remaining area of the center console is surfaced under the vents (same tolerance and geometry requirements as task 2)

Parts are made for the controls (buttons and knobs) under the center vents and are contained in an assembly. Include all the trim sections around the buttons.
