// endless shower
Four stage water filtration and sterilisation unit which recycles shower water to enable prolonged, high-pressure showers with limited water for use in alternative/off-grid living environments.
The Need
Lack of affordable housing and frustration with ‘the daily grind’ is encouraging people to favour alternative living situations, such as vans, to gain a sense of freedom. However, the current compromise for this is no regular access to a decent shower. The product filters and sterilises 15 litres of water in a closed-loop, allowing users to have long showers, bringing the comforts of modern life to the nomadic lifestyle.
CAM Mechanism
Alternative living environments often have curved walls that create difficulty when installing utilities. To overcome this, the product has been designed to incorporate CAM mechanisms that allow the user to mount the unit vertically, whatever the angle of the wall.
Germicidal UV-C Sterilisation Chamber
Germicidal UV-C spectrum LEDs have been arranged on aluminium extrusions which double as heat sinks to draw aware the thermal energy generated by the LEDs. The UV-C radiation penetrates bacteria, viruses, and protozoa damaging the DNA, thereby rendering the pathogens inactive and harmless to humans.
Activated Carbon Filter
Chemical impurities and bio-matter are chemically adsorbed by the activated Carbon granules that are contained with the bottom filter. The filter is only able to be opened using a custom designed machine - this has been designed in to ensure that users can not attempt to re-pack the filters with new filtration material which could cause a safety hazard.
