Prop and Background Research - Websites
During my feedback from my treatment presentation, we were given some websites that we could take a look at for further research just in case so I decided to take a look at all of them to see what they offer and about the businesses. The first one I took a look at was Granger Hertzog who are a prop company that have a warehouse that has loads of contemporary and stylish pieces available to hire. They have many sections such as tables, storage, lighting etc but I took a look at the food photography section that shows many slabs, table tops and other surfaces they have to offer.
I like how different the companies that offer backdrops are as they feel as though they could give you a whole different experience to food photography even though you may not think so at first.also quite like how they have what looks like collapsible tables that you can capture food photography from as that way it can travel with you anywhere as well as being able to place it near any window if need be.
Clapham Studio Hire is not only a company that allows you to hire photographic studios, but offers in house props that you could use for your studio shoots. They have a food photography studio that is equipped with a large kitchen perfectly designed for home economists and a number of props and backgrounds available to hire that would work with constant and flash lights. For their food props, they try and work with multiple potters from around the UK that brings the unique and simple props for all photoshoots and they are all available with any booking.
Superhire, based in London, is another prop hire company that has been supplying for Film, TV, commercials and much more for over 50 years and offers and range of contemporary furniture and classic props from around the world. Though they don't have anything specific for food photography, I took a look at the tables they have to offer which range from old fashioned to modern and contemporary tables you can use for multiple shoots.
What I was interested in when looking at what the company have to offer was the small amount of accessories props they have to offer which were still rather interesting to look at as they seem to be vintage and show personality to them which is what I really like about the section.
For over 30 years, Backgrounds prop hire has been providing backgrounds and props to the creative industry from their warehouse in London. They have around 7,500 square feet with tableware, linens, cutlery, glassware, utensils, accessories, backgrounds, boards, cookware, furniture available for you to hire all you need to do is pop in a follow simple steps to find the perfect props for your shoot. I took a look at the various months that they publish throughout the months that focus on a specific area such as 'natural shades' and 'simple ceramics'.
This is one of the best websites I have taken a look at for research because of the materials that they have to offer such as the linen sections which could work really well as a table cloth or a tea towel which for food photography is an important part of a shoot. I really like the pastel colours that they offer throughout as they would help bring a really calm and homely scene to the photography.
