The “home away from home” concept combines some of the original interior trademarks with new minimalist features that brings the student residents a warm and cosy feeling within a modern environment.

Given its location in Coimbra, it was also important to apply discreetly some of Portugal’s culture into the details. The contemporary geometrical tiles and the choice of colors and materials translate just that, resulting in a modern approach of a retro/classic look.

D-HIVE team of Designers, Architects and 3D Artists joined forces and combined their technical and creative know-how into this project. We’ve kept in mind that the spaces will be used seasonally by young adults, and therefore all the touch surfaces are easy to clean and it packs lots of storage space for a small studio. The bathroom has a zenithal light effect that mimics natural light and matches the original skylight in the building main staircase.
