This illustration series, called "Menades", celebrates street dancers, which bring a glimpse of poetry and grace to onlookers all around the world.
In Greek mythology, Menades were female characters dancing around Dyonisos.
In China, "Dancing Grannies" meet every morning near the rivers, in public squares and parks to practice dance or tai chi.
These illustrations pay a tribute to some of them, covertly observed during my trip to China in 2019.
