An experienced Hollywood film producer, David Nicksay has facilitated high-profile projects such as the acclaimed Netflix series “Messiah.” The most recent project David Nicksay has been involved in as executive producer is “In The Heights,” which has “Crazy Rich Asians” director Jon M. Chu at the helm.
Having earned Tony awards for Best Original Score and Best Musical in 2008, the play portrays a bodega owner in New York City who faces a personal dilemma when his grandmother dies and leaves him a large inheritance. The decision to close shop and retire to the Caribbean creates an internal conflict that is explored on stage.
The movie version features Anthony Ramos, star of “Hamilton,” in the lead role, and also stars actors Stephanie Beatriz and Corey Hawkins. With the musical originally created by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Quiara Alegria Hudes, the latter also revised a script by “Serendipity” screenwriter Marc Klein, working with Chu to adapt the project for the big screen.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Warner Bros film, which was originally set for release on June 26th, 2020, will be released on June 18th, 2021. The only other film set to be released on that date is a full length Pixar Animation movie.
