The ask for this print project was to create a magazine that was based off the topic of "borders". After reading a New York Times article back in August that highlighted how New York Public School System is the most segregated in the country, I translated this topic to showcase the borders that geographically keep kids in New York from being admitted to what are viewed as the
"elite high schools" in the city.
We weren't given any restrictions, so set a few for myself.  First, I wanted the piece to be in black in white so printing would not be a high cost, but also as a metaphor to demonstrate the lack of budget some of these schools receive. The piece was tabloid size (11in x 17in) because I wanted this magazine to make a statement on the news stand, almost unavoidable.
Throughout the magazine there would be posters that are the words of New York City students used during their protests. My hope was that they would be able to be taken out of the magazine and be used in a protest or on a student's bedroom wall to act as motivation to continue this fight.
