Francesco Padovani's profile

Margaret Calvert @ Move Museum

This is the first part of my bachelor thesis project at Politecnico di Milano.
First we had to create the logo of a hypotetical museum, called the Museum of Visual Experiences, or MoVE, and then we had to design the visual identity of an exhibition about the work of Margaret Calvert.
Margaret Calvert is a British typographer and graphic designer who, along with Jock Kinneir, designed  in the Sixties the road signage system that is still used today in the United Kingdom, and for which she created the typeface called Transport.
From this and from other importand projects I developed a visual identity based on three central themes of her production and process. These themes were clarity, simplicity and movement.
The artwork that we had to design consisted of a poster, an invitation, an insight booklet and a website.
This project is intended to be a homage to the life and work of Margaret Calvert and Jock Kinneir.
2nd part of the project here.
