My project started with the theme of exploring “traces”, I was intrigued by the marks made in nature, however I started to find a point of real interest
when I began photographing marks made on the human body, scars became my central theme and from there I began to explore the physicality of
such markings. I wanted to highlight these bodily imperfections but present these as piece of art to be admired rather than hidden away.
I decided to create a publicaton that would capture and document the stories behind each scar. The variety of responses I received was really interesting.
The treatment of the publication involved a very “hand’s on” approach. I used traditional techniques such as letter pressed typography and screen–printing
to emphasis the raw and personal aesthetics of the photography.
